First Love?

About 7 years ago, I started to date this guy, we had the same group of friends and were both smitten with eachother. We dated loosely for a few years, he went to Iraq for the start of the war, and came home safe 7 months later and 4 months after that, we ended our dating situation for good. He moved back to Texas and has been there for the last few years. We have remained friends sort of (talk ocionally) both have fallen in love since, he even got engaged and I met his fiance on a trip out to visit a mutual friend. They since broke off the enagement and he is dating someone else. I will be heading out to texas later this year by coincendence and plan on meeting up while I am there. Is it srange that I still sort of hope that we will end up together, I don't dwell on it at all, but there has always been that part of me that just knew we would find our ways back to each other. I totally respect that he is in a relationship now and would never do or say anything unless it ended.
