Why did Russell Brand & Katy Perry have a Hindu wedding if neither of them are Hindus?

I think they did it to be different then other celebrities and stars of our generation. Instead of having a big wedding, they decided to have a traditional Hindu wedding possibly because it will attract more attention, or they like the idea of the culture... maybe they just like Hindus :)
