Linux wireless driver not working?

I recently installed the latest Ubuntu onto my HP Pavilion DV9000 laptop. I installed it as a dual boot with Win7. I can not get the wireless driver installed for the life of me. The ethernet works. I've tried extracting the inf from the driver exe provided by HP. I tried installing that with the program Windows Wireless Drivers and it marks it as invalid driver. I tried installing it via terminal with ndiswrapper commands, which it said it installed but still no luck. The wireless light on the laptop remains orange (off) no matter what. Any ideas?
